Secondary English Teacher (IGCSE & A-Level)

About the role

Dipont KCS Chengdu, a school founded in September 2021 in partnership with King's College School, Wimbledon, is looking for an experienced Teacher of Secondary English (IGCSE and A-Level) to start immediately. The school follows the Chinese National Curriculum with international pedagogy and teaches English, English as a Second Language (ESL) and Academic English to students aged 8-13 (Years 8-13).

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver well-structured English lessons across middle and senior school, adapted to students' language needs.
• Teach English language, IGCSE ESL and Academic English, with a focus on reading, writing, speaking and listening.
• Build academic writing, reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar and critical thinking skills.
• Prepare students for IGCSE examinations and the English demands of further study.
• Differentiate instruction for students with varying English proficiency and use assessment and feedback to track progress.
• Contribute to the school's academic, pastoral and co-curricular life.

Required profile

• Degree in English, English Language, English Literature, Education or a closely related field.
• Recognized teaching qualification, such as UK QTS/PGCE or an equivalent US, Canadian or Australian credential.
• At least 3 years of relevant teaching experience, preferably in a secondary school.
• Experience teaching English, ESL/EAL or Academic English to secondary students, and familiarity with British, international, bilingual, IGCSE and/or A-Level environments.
• Able to meet Chinese work-permit requirements and available to start immediately.
