Project Technical Engineer (Marine Electrical)

About the role

ABB is hiring a Project Technical Engineer in Shanghai, reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager. The role covers the full lifecycle of marine electrical projects, from sales handover and basic engineering through detailed engineering, testing, commissioning and warranty support, and also contributes to quality improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Sales handover: attend the handover meeting, review technical documents, identify risks and opportunities.
• Basic engineering: gather initial data from stakeholders, prepare the engineering document list and schedule plan, prepare templates and references, and take part in the external kickoff meeting.
• Detailed engineering: monitor compliance with operating procedures and standards such as classification society rules, guide design works and changes, track document status and approvals, and lead technical reviews.
• Test: prepare FAT procedures and checklists, pre-check and pre-test in the lab or factory, support the customer during FAT, and follow up punch clearance.
• Commissioning: prepare as-built updates, support critical commissioning issues, and prepare final documents and software archives.
• Warranty support: join warranty case studies, update engineering documentation, collect site test results and update final documents.
• Quality: join quality improvement projects, support engineering template maintenance, share lessons learned and capture quality issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical & Automation (Marine) or above.
• Knowledge of marine and offshore electrical propulsion systems.
• Fluent English, oral and written, with customers and colleagues.
• Ownership of your area of responsibility and a "higher quality" awareness in daily work.
• Basic Lean Six Sigma (L6S).

Required skills

• Electrical drive system analysis and drive system THD calculation.
• AFE converter filter selection and system resonance evaluation.
• Knowledge of medium and low voltage frequency converters, PLC drive control units and vessel remote control units.
