Programme Management Officer

About the role

The Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is seeking a Programme Management Officer for its Centre for Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization (CSAM) in Beijing. The incumbent will support the design, implementation and evaluation of regional programmes that promote sustainable agricultural mechanisation and contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals in the Asia‑Pacific.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and monitor assigned programmes and projects, leading specialised teams as required.
• Analyse programme progress, prepare reports and briefings in English and Chinese, and propose corrective actions.
• Facilitate workshops and interactive sessions with client organisations, helping to design action plans for change management.
• Conduct research, policy analysis and surveys; design data‑collection tools, analyse results and draft background papers, reports and publications.
• Strengthen partnerships with government ministries, universities, research institutes, civil society, international organisations and the private sector.

Required profile

• University degree in agriculture, economics, development studies or a related field.
• Relevant experience in programme management, policy analysis, research and stakeholder liaison, preferably within an international or UN context.
• Proficiency in English and Chinese (both written and spoken).
• Strong analytical, writing and communication skills.
