MS Humanities Teacher

About the role

Concordia International School Shanghai is seeking a dedicated Middle School Humanities Teacher to deliver Language Arts and Social Studies instruction. The role includes teaching an elective and may involve drama activities, with an emphasis on integrating technology and fostering a Christian learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and prepare engaging Humanities units using Understanding by Design (UbD) strategies.
• Deliver instruction in Language Arts and Social Studies, incorporating reading and writing workshop methods.
• Integrate appropriate technology tools to enhance student learning.
• Manage classroom dynamics and maintain a respectful, inclusive environment.
• Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and the school community to support student achievement.
• Participate in professional responsibilities such as grading, reporting, and continuous development.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject area and teaching certification.
• Minimum two years of successful teaching experience in a school setting.
• Commitment to the school’s Christian ethos and ability to model Christ’s teachings.
• Willingness to receive training in Reading & Writing Workshop prior to arrival.
• Experience or interest in working with an ethnically diverse student body.
