MS Band Teacher

About the role

The Middle School Band Teacher will join a small music team to expand and enrich the band program for grades 5‑8. The role involves directing beginner, intermediate and symphonic ensembles, as well as co‑curricular groups such as Jazz Band, while supporting school‑wide music objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver instruction for 5/6 Beginning Band, 7/8 Beginning Band, 6/7 Intermediate Band, and 7/8 Symphonic Band.
• Conduct AMIS MS Band auditions and lead co‑curricular ensembles, including Jazz Band.
• Manage classroom environment, assess student progress, and differentiate instruction.
• Collaborate with the elementary and high‑school music staff, accompanist, and support personnel.
• Participate in professional responsibilities such as curriculum development, faculty meetings, and school events.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in music or a related field and appropriate teaching certification.
• Minimum two years of successful teaching experience in a school setting.
• Experience or familiarity with international school environments and the American education system is preferred.
• Ability to work with a culturally diverse student body and create units using Understanding by Design (UbD) strategies.
