Mechanical Engineering Manager

About the role

Join Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Mechanical Engineering team to lead the development of advanced scientific instruments. As a Mechanical Engineering Manager you will guide a team of engineers from concept through commercialization, driving innovation that makes the world healthier, cleaner and safer.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of 6‑12 mechanical engineers, fostering a collaborative and continuous‑improvement culture.
• Oversee complex technical projects from concept to market launch, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.
• Coordinate cross‑functional teams, manage New Product Introduction (NPI) and stage‑gate processes, and drive lean manufacturing initiatives.
• Travel up to 20‑25% to support project sites, external partners and research institutions.

Required profile

• Advanced degree with 6+ years of mechanical engineering experience, or Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
• Proven success managing complex product development projects and leading engineering teams.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical system design principles and ISO 9001 quality management systems.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD and 3D modeling tools such as SolidWorks and NX.
• Expertise in mechanical and electrical system design.
• Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI), stage‑gate development, and lean manufacturing methodologies.
• Project management and ability to coordinate cross‑functional teams.
