Manager III, Customer Engineer – ETCH/CMP

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Manager III, Customer Engineer for the ETCH/CMP product lines in Chengdu. The role leads a district of customer engineers, builds strong client relationships, and ensures successful delivery of semiconductor equipment and services.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain customer relationships across the district, performing regular visits.
• Manage, coach and direct all customer engineers, handling salary and career planning, performance appraisals and corrective actions.
• Serve as the primary interface with Product Divisions for tech support, training, spares and reliability.
• Oversee account planning with District Sales Engineer, financial forecasting, cost efficiency and system installation activities.
• Execute escalation procedures, monitor CSD Award and mentor programs, and manage RMA processes.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage performance in a technical environment.
• Strong understanding of Applied Materials’ global standards of business conduct and ethical values.
• Experience in analyzing complex technical issues and making judgment calls within defined policies.
• Effective communication and presentation skills to interact with customers and internal stakeholders.
