Legal Counsel

About the role

The Legal Counsel will be a core executor within the company's compliance framework, providing day‑to‑day legal support for business lines that include cross‑border payments, e‑commerce collection and disbursement, overseas treasury compliance, and platform partnerships.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, revise and archive routine business contracts, cooperation agreements, service agreements, privacy policies and compliance notices, focusing on cross‑border payment channel partnerships, merchant onboarding, distribution agreements, technical service contracts and data compliance.
• Assist in tracking industry compliance requirements related to cross‑border payments, foreign‑exchange administration, AML, anti‑fraud and user fund custody, and support implementation of compliance workflows, risk screening, policy updates and internal self‑inspections.
• Help the Head of Legal develop and update legal and compliance policies, business risk‑control procedures, standardized contract templates, compliance guidelines and red‑line lists.
• Support handling of user complaints, merchant disputes and partner conflicts, including negotiation, evidence collection, documentation and coordination of potential litigation, arbitration and regulatory inquiries.
• Assist in maintaining trademarks, software copyrights and other intellectual property, as well as renewal and documentation of financial and payment‑related licenses.
• Provide basic legal advice to business and operations teams, monitor regulatory policy updates and compile industry compliance intelligence.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Law; PRC Legal Professional Qualification (Type A) preferred.
• Fresh graduates or candidates with up to 1 year of legal experience are welcome.
• Proficiency in English required (IELTS 6.0 / TOEFL 100 or equivalent preferred).
• Prior legal internship or work experience in fintech, payments, cross‑border e‑commerce or internet industries is a plus.
