Lead UX Designer – Shanghai

About the role

Springer Nature is seeking a Lead UX Designer to shape the user experience of its scientific publishing platform. Based in Shanghai, you will work within a global UX practice and collaborate with teams across Berlin, Lisbon, London, Pune and other locations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the UX design effort for a major programme that publishes scientific research worldwide.
• Partner with a researcher and product owner in Shanghai to create best‑in‑class products that meet business goals.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional, multicultural teams to define and iterate on design solutions.
• Help define the team’s vision and contribute to its growth as the Shanghai team expands.
• Apply agile methods while focusing on the right problems and delivering measurable outcomes.

Required profile

• Several years of senior‑level UX design experience, preferably in a lead role.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating critical thinking, analysis, decision‑making and a range of UX methods.
• Proven ability to work with stakeholders and non‑designers, communicating empathetically and clearly.
• Comfortable in a collaborative environment with both remote and in‑person teamwork.
• Experience planning UX strategies and participating in all stages of the UX lifecycle.
