Lab Research & Development Intern

About the role

IFF, a global leader in flavors, fragrances, food ingredients and health & biosciences, is looking for a Lab Research & Development intern in Shanghai (Hongqiao, on site). The intern will support routine laboratory testing and analysis in a team focused on enzyme technologies and animal nutrition applications.

Key responsibilities

• Grind and prepare feed and feed ingredient samples for enzyme activity analysis
• Perform enzyme assays, nutritional analyses and other laboratory tests according to established procedures
• Prepare reagents, buffers and laboratory solutions
• Support routine calibration, verification and maintenance of laboratory equipment
• Maintain laboratory inventories of chemicals, consumables and glassware
• Manage laboratory documentation and records, ensuring accuracy, traceability and compliance
• Support laboratory safety, including MSDS records and safe practices
• Assist with general laboratory operations and other assigned tasks

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Animal Nutrition or a related discipline
• Basic understanding of laboratory techniques, analytical testing and scientific methods
• Attention to detail, good organization and time management
• Ability to follow safety procedures and quality standards, and to work independently
• Previous internship, academic project or lab experience in biochemical, microbiological or analytical testing is a plus

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Knowledge of enzymes and their use in animal nutrition or feed is a plus
• Familiarity with lab inventory management, equipment calibration and reagent preparation is a plus
