Java Technical Manager / Backend Team Lead

About the role

We are looking for a strong Backend Team Lead to join our Core team and build reliable, high‑performance backend systems that scale. You will lead a group of Java developers working on microservices, integrations and a real‑time rule execution platform for fraud detection.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of Java developers, handling task setting, sprint planning and quality control.
• Design and evolve system architecture with a focus on observability, high availability, fault tolerance and scalability.
• Ensure system uptime through proactive monitoring, incident management and performance optimisation.
• Develop, review and mentor Java code following best practices and production‑readiness standards.
• Participate in effort estimation, release planning and improve cross‑team collaboration.

Required profile

• 5+ years of commercial Java development experience (Java 8+).
• Proven experience leading a development team of at least three members.
• Strong leadership, decision‑making and communication skills.
• Ability to mentor, inspire and support professional growth of team members.
• English level B2 (required) or higher.

Required skills

• Java, Spring Boot microservices.
• Apache Kafka.
• SQL databases: PostgreSQL, ClickHouse.
• NoSQL databases: Redis, ElasticSearch.
• Docker, Kubernetes (containerisation and orchestration).
• Git, GitLab CI/CD.
