HR Specialist – Employee & Labor Relations

About the role

The HR Specialist will act as the subject‑matter expert for Employee and Labor Relations at DePuy Synthes, a Johnson & Johnson company, based in Suzhou, China. You will partner with HR, Legal and business leaders to ensure compliant, consistent and risk‑aware handling of employee and labor matters in a highly regulated environment.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as Employee and Labor Relations SME, advising on labor laws, collective relations and employee matters.
• Advise HR and business leaders on disciplinary actions, grievances, investigations.
• Interpret and apply local labor legislation, company policies and employment practices.
• Partner with Legal, HR and site union to manage labor disputes, claims and interactions with labor bureau.
• Contribute to development, review and implementation of labor relations policies, guidelines and SOPs.
• Analyze labor relations trends and risks, providing proactive insights and recommendations.
• Support change initiatives such as restructures and reorganizations with labor‑relations guidance and risk assessments.
• Deliver training or knowledge‑sharing sessions to HR and leaders on labor relations topics.
• Handle document processing, records management and compliance filings as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience in employee and labor relations within China, preferably in a multinational environment.
• Strong knowledge of Chinese labor legislation, collective bargaining and dispute resolution.
• Ability to partner with legal, HR and union representatives to manage complex cases.
• Excellent analytical and risk‑assessment skills, with a proactive approach to issue mitigation.
• Effective communication and training delivery skills for HR and business leaders.
• High integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality in sensitive matters.
