Heat Exchanger Development Engineer

About the role

JCI is looking for a senior heat exchanger development engineer within its Advanced Technology organization. The role leads the development of heat exchangers aimed at higher performance and lower cost, including for residential and commercial air conditioners.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and improve heat exchangers for residential and commercial air conditioners, using numerical and experimental analysis of air-side and refrigerant-side heat transfer and flow dynamics.
• Lead the development and timely transfer of advanced heat exchanger technologies to the relevant product platform teams.
• Work with platform and component designers to identify opportunities to improve performance and cost structure.
• Support the development and maintenance of a multi-year technology development and implementation roadmap.
• Design prototyping and experimental facilities used to evaluate advanced components and systems.

Required profile

• More than 10 years of experience as an engineer or researcher on cross-fin and tube-type heat exchangers.
• Extensive experience in numerical and experimental analysis of heat transfer and fluid dynamics.
• Experience designing and developing air conditioner refrigeration cycles.
• Extensive experience developing and managing intellectual property, including patents.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of heat exchangers, vapor-compression refrigeration cycle design, and metal material properties.
• Knowledge of heat exchanger manufacturing processes.
• Must have led or taken part in developing heat transfer experimental methods, instrumentation and data analysis.
