Graduate Software Developer (Java / .NET) - Shanghai

About the role

Tesla is looking for a graduate software developer (Java / .NET) based in Shanghai, for its software development team. You will help build the core IT applications supporting Tesla's rapid global growth, covering manufacturing, supply chain, charging infrastructure, delivery and customer service. You will work closely with experienced product managers, QA specialists and system operations engineers, and gain hands-on experience across the full software development lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in the full software development lifecycle: requirements gathering, system design, implementation, testing and deployment.
• Design and develop scalable, stable and secure software systems powering Tesla's core business operations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as manufacturing, quality, supply chain, charging, delivery and operations to understand business needs and deliver IT solutions.
• Write clean, maintainable and well-documented code, and take part in unit and integration testing.
• Help implement and improve automation testing and CI/CD pipelines.
• Work within a globally distributed engineering team, coordinating across time zones.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related technical field.
• Strong foundation in C#, familiarity with the .NET platform (.NET Core / .NET 6+) and web frameworks such as ASP.NET Core.
• Understanding of data structures, algorithms and Object-Oriented Design; basic knowledge of relational databases (SQL Server, MySQL) and SQL.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs, HTTP and Git; good problem-solving skills, eagerness to learn, teamwork and English communication.
• Preferred: prior internship or academic projects showing C#/.NET development, and basic use of coding agents (Cursor, OpenCode, Grok Build).

Preferred qualifications

• Frontend frameworks such as Angular, React or Vue.
• Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS), containerization (Docker) and CI/CD/DevOps.
• Basic AI/ML concepts (LLMs, RAG), vector databases, messaging queues (RabbitMQ, Kafka, Azure Service Bus), Domain Driven Development and "vibe coding".
