Freelance Architect

About the role

JERDE is seeking a freelance architect for a three‑month assignment at its Shanghai office. The role focuses on concept design, design development, and construction detailing for commercial and mixed‑use projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop architectural and interior design concepts from schematic to construction documents.
• Create detailed 3D models and visualisations for client presentations.
• Coordinate with engineering and construction teams to ensure compliance with Chinese building codes and life‑safety requirements.
• Manage project timelines, prioritize tasks, and deliver high‑quality work within tight deadlines.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in architecture and interior design.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Architecture or Interior Design.
• Experience with commercial or mixed‑use projects; renovation experience is a plus.
• Fluent in English and Chinese, with strong written and oral communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino, Adobe Creative Suite, and 3ds Max.
• Familiarity with Escape and Lumion for rendering is preferred.
• Strong graphic presentation abilities, including hand sketching.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team‑oriented environment.
