Customer Support Technician

About the role

Join Applied Materials in Shanghai as a Customer Support Technician, providing on‑site technical support for semiconductor and display equipment. You will ensure equipment uptime, guide customers on operation, and contribute to continuous improvement of service processes.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute daily, weekly, monthly and annual preventive and remedial maintenance within the assigned territory.
• Perform TIER II start‑ups, assist with TIER III start‑ups, and conduct warranty, paid service and service‑contract activities.
• Instruct customers on equipment operation and maintenance, and act as the liaison between Applied Materials and customer front‑line management.
• Track equipment performance, implement productivity plans, and apply Statistical Process Control and Quality Improvement methods.

Required profile

• Physically able to work in clean‑room environments, including lifting up to 35 lb and wearing PPE such as coveralls, booties and respirators.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot process variations and provide technical assistance to junior staff.

Required skills

• Preventive maintenance procedures for semiconductor equipment.
• Wet‑clean techniques and use of hand/power tools.
• TIER II and TIER III equipment start‑up processes.
• Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Quality Improvement Process methods.
