Communications & Engagement Manager, North Asia

About the role

The Communications & Engagement Manager for L'Oréal R&I North Asia leads the communication strategy across China, Japan, South Korea and Singapore. You will act as the internal journalist, turning complex scientific and organizational realities into compelling stories for media, government, employees and consumers, while linking R&I insights to brand‑marketing initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary liaison between R&I North Asia and Brand Marketing/Communications teams, ensuring scientific assets are integrated into brand campaigns and consumer activations.
• Translate complex scientific and clinical data into emotionally resonant, brand‑ready narratives, including key visuals and imagery that reinforce L'Oréal’s “Science” positioning.
• Co‑organise joint events with brand teams to showcase R&I breakthroughs around product launches.
• Develop and oversee the visual identity and imagery for R&I storytelling, maintaining consistency with global brand standards.
• Design and execute integrated communication campaigns (messaging, key visuals, decks, scripts, videos) for major R&I milestones, primarily in China with adaptations for other markets.
• Lead writing and editing of all R&I communications materials such as press Q&A, whitepapers, executive talking points and internal narratives, maintaining a high standard in both Chinese and English.
• Own the North Asia R&I communications calendar, ensuring alignment and a consistent narrative across China, Japan, Korea and Singapore.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, external agencies and media contacts across the region.

Required profile

• Proven experience in corporate communications, journalism or a related field, preferably within a scientific or R&D environment.
• Exceptional written and spoken proficiency in both Chinese and English.
• Demonstrated ability to manage junior staff, interns and external agencies.
• Strong collaboration skills with senior R&I leadership and cross‑functional teams across multiple markets.
