Category Buyer – Global Procurement

About the role

Aptiv is seeking a proactive Category Buyer to lead sourcing activities, negotiate with suppliers, and drive cost‑reduction initiatives across its global operations. The role focuses on delivering quality, price, service and technology improvements while supporting material localization for key Asian plants.

Key responsibilities

• Source suppliers quickly and negotiate contracts based on purchase requisitions.
• Achieve targets for quality, price, service and technology adoption.
• Collect market data, benchmark, and conduct cost‑focused negotiations and studies.
• Lead annual negotiations and meet defined savings objectives.
• Implement material cost‑reduction strategies aligned with Aptiv’s global and regional plans.
• Drive material localization for China, Korea and India plants to meet localization targets.
• Manage daily documentation and contract administration.
• Develop and maintain a supply base that best fits Aptiv product lines.
• Collaborate with plant PCL teams to ensure supply‑chain stability and prevent line‑down events.
• Coordinate interfaces with internal departments to support seamless operations.

Required profile

• University degree in engineering, commercial studies or related field.
• 3–5 years of international or commodity purchasing experience.
• Fluent in English (oral, reading, writing); Korean language skills are a plus.
• Strong sense of responsibility, excellent communication, and ability to work across time zones and cultures.
• Willingness to learn, adapt and perform under pressure.
