Associate or Senior Editor – Polymer Materials (Nature Communications)

About the role

The editor will manage original research papers in polymer materials, collaborate with fellow editors throughout the editorial process, and oversee peer review to ensure high‑quality publications.

Key responsibilities

• Handle original research papers, select manuscripts, and oversee peer review in collaboration with other editors.
• Make well‑reasoned editorial decisions on submissions based on expert advice.
• Determine how the subject area is represented within the journal.
• Liaise extensively with editors across the Nature family and with international scientific experts.
• Attend conferences and visit research institutions to stay connected with the scientific community.

Required profile

• PhD (or equivalent) in polymer chemistry, focusing on polymer synthesis, materials, or processing.
• Postdoctoral research experience preferred but not essential.
• Thorough understanding of fundamental concepts in polymer science.
• Strong awareness of recent trends and developments in the field.
• Passion for science, broad interest in research beyond the specialty, and a desire to keep learning.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with fluency in English (written and spoken).
