Associate Director, Legal

About the role

IQVIA, a global provider of advanced analytics, technology solutions and clinical research services for the life sciences industry, is looking for an Associate Director, Legal in Shanghai. The role provides legal advice and services in one or more areas such as contract law, employment law, commercial law, regulatory or compliance, and may also coordinate legal matters handled by outside counsel.

Key responsibilities

• Review, draft and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory and organisational policies, and monitor the contract process including pre-contract discussions, negotiations and changes.
• May advise on employment law and liaise with Human Resources on human capital issues, monitoring legal issues around discrimination, sexual harassment, health and safety, hiring and firing and employee rights.
• Advise and represent the organisation on patent, copyright, trademark, real estate and privacy matters.
• May examine legal data to decide whether to defend or prosecute a lawsuit, study statutes and decisions, prepare files and take cases to trial, or coordinate matters handled by outside counsel.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree and a JD required; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• 8 years of related experience, including 5 years in corporate law.
• Solid understanding of the government regulations affecting the organisation, the pharmaceutical industry and drug development, and of drug discovery and development.
• Demonstrated ability to work creatively in a fast-paced environment, make sound decisions, work independently and build effective working relationships with colleagues, managers and clients.

Required skills

• Strong organisational, planning, project management, communication, presentation and influence skills.
• Excellent use of MS Office Suite: MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities at once.
