APAC Legal Counsel (4-7 years PQE)

About the role

We are looking for a commercially‑minded, independent legal professional to join the APAC Regional Headquarters in Shanghai. Reporting to the APAC Legal Director, you will provide comprehensive legal and compliance support to the APAC business across manufacturing, commercial, and corporate functions.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, negotiate and advise on a broad range of commercial agreements across the APAC region.
• Provide day‑to‑day legal support to commercial, sales, procurement, supply chain and operations teams.
• Identify legal and commercial risks and develop pragmatic solutions aligned with business objectives.
• Support legal matters arising from manufacturing and operational activities, including supplier management and operational risk assessment.
• Advise on legal issues impacting production, sourcing, logistics and supply‑chain operations.
• Assist with employment‑related legal matters and coordinate with external counsel when needed.
• Support regional compliance initiatives, corporate governance, entity management and corporate secretarial matters.
• Conduct legal and compliance training for internal stakeholders.
• Assist in managing commercial disputes, litigation, arbitration and pre‑dispute matters.
• Coordinate and manage external counsel across multiple APAC jurisdictions and monitor legal spend.

Required profile

• LL.B. degree from a reputable university.
• PRC Legal Qualification Certificate required.
• Overseas legal education (LL.M., J.D. or equivalent) is advantageous.
• Approximately 4‑7 years of post‑qualification legal experience.
• In‑house counsel experience in a multinational corporation or private‑practice experience serving multinational clients.
• Exposure to manufacturing, industrial, engineering, automotive, chemicals, machinery or related sectors is highly preferred.
