About the role

The Project Purchasing Engineer (M) will act as the interface between the Business Unit and Commercial Purchasing, managing strategic and operative purchasing topics throughout the product life‑cycle. You will support new projects and change‑management initiatives, ensuring delivery, cost, and quality targets are met.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical project management for component‑level purchasing projects, collaborating with project teams, suppliers, and internal functions.
• Drive Technical Supplier Discussions (TSD) and support Target Cost Achievement (TCA) and Ratio Project Planning (RPP) activities.
• Manage the RFQ process, validate offers, and make sourcing decisions based on technical feasibility, quality, delivery, and pricing.
• Plan and align material (MAT) cost and investment with business unit and plant requirements.
• Participate in Simultaneous Engineering (SE) teams, clarifying technical requirements with suppliers.
• Translate business needs into purchasing category, technology, and supplier strategies, and monitor market intelligence.
• Monitor supplier performance on‑site, mitigate risks, and maintain project data in IT systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical or commercial field.
• At least 3 years of experience with mechanical parts such as die‑casting, stamping, assembly, plastic, or connectors.
• Experience in purchasing project management; automotive industry background is a plus.
• Strong understanding of cost structures and ability to drive cost‑saving initiatives.
• Project‑management experience or certifications are advantageous.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work across departments and with external suppliers.
• Professional proficiency in English and competence with MS Office.
• Proactive, independent, and flexible to adapt to changing business needs and travel when required.
