Legal Counsel – Business Partner & Compliance Lead

About the role

In this role you will become an important business partner, enabling sustainable and accelerated growth through innovative thinking, calculated risk‑taking and compliance enforcement. You will gain legal exposure to Philips’ extensive product portfolio—from consumer products to medical devices—and support the company’s B2B, B2C and B2G business models while contributing to the mission of improving health and well‑being for billions of people.

Key responsibilities

• Lead legal support for contract review and negotiation, business‑model formation, M&A projects, dispute resolution, investigations and crisis handling.
• Identify, prevent and respond to legal and compliance risks in anti‑trust, anti‑bribery, healthcare‑professional regulations, data security, privacy and export control.
• Drive projects independently, ensuring comprehensive planning, teamwork and stakeholder engagement.
• Continuously improve the efficiency and quality of legal services to meet practical business needs.
• Train, implement and enforce compliance programmes across the organisation.
• Coach junior lawyers within the Philips Greater China legal department as needed.

Required profile

• Law degree (Bachelor, preferably Master) with at least 10 years of legal practice experience and admission to the PRC Bar.
• Strong self‑motivation, eagerness to learn and take on new challenges.
• Excellent communication skills in both Chinese and English.
• Preferable mix of in‑house and private‑practice experience in a multinational company or international law firm.
• Experience in the medical‑device industry is a plus.
