About the role
The United Nations Resident Coordinator Office in Beijing is seeking an Economist to support the acceleration of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the economic transformation agenda in China. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Head of the Resident Coordinator Office, providing evidence‑based analysis and strategic advice.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, facilitate and consolidate evidence‑based analysis of the status of the SDGs in China, linking findings to the 15th Five‑Year Plan and relevant national policies.
- Research emerging best practices in SDG acceleration, green and just transition, digital transformation and the future of work, with attention to gender and leave‑no‑one‑behind principles.
- Provide substantive advice to the Resident Coordinator and UN Country Team on SDG acceleration, economic transformation, and leveraging SDG financing.
- Guide the preparation of policy recommendations and support the integration of a systems approach to assess alignment with national development priorities.
Required profile
- Professional expertise in economic analysis and sustainable development.
- Familiarity with Chinese development policies, including the 15th Five‑Year Plan.
- Strong research and analytical skills to produce evidence‑based reports.
