Customer Engineer (Field Service) – Entry Level

About the role

As a Customer Engineer at Applied Materials you will act as the primary liaison with customers, installing, maintaining and upgrading advanced semiconductor equipment. The role blends hands‑on technical work with direct customer interaction, using digital analytics to troubleshoot and resolve issues.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Senior Field Service Engineers to install, maintain and upgrade customer equipment.
• Use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to assess equipment performance.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems.
• Coordinate and communicate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations.
• Fulfill additional duties as assigned, including travel to customer sites.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience or trade certification.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Experience diagnosing and resolving basic technical challenges.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.
• Ability to meet on‑site safety, environmental and COVID‑19 protocols.
