Customer Engineer - C1

About the role

As a Customer Engineer (C1) at Applied Materials, you act as the primary liaison with customers, installing, maintaining, and upgrading semiconductor equipment. You will leverage digital analytics for troubleshooting and apply basic diagnostic techniques to resolve technical issues. The role involves preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems while ensuring clear communication with customers.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Senior Field Service Engineers to install, maintain, and upgrade customer equipment.
• Use digital analytics for troubleshooting.
• Apply basic diagnostic techniques to assess equipment and address technical issues, with guidance from senior engineers.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems (training provided).
• Coordinate and communicate directly with customers.
• Fulfill additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Completion of an Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience, or trade certification.
• Basic mechanical aptitude.
• Willingness to learn and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Experience diagnosing and resolving basic technical challenges.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport if travel is required.
• Ability to meet on‑site safety, environmental, and COVID‑19 protocols.
