About the role

Join the editorial team of Joule, a leading journal for energy research, as an Associate Scientific Editor focused on photovoltaics. You will help shape the journal’s coverage of solar energy science and technology, ensuring published work is rigorous, impactful, and relevant to the global research community.

Key responsibilities

• Manage manuscript submissions through peer‑review, evaluating scientific quality, originality, and significance.
• Attract high‑quality research articles and commission reviews, perspectives, and commentaries from leading experts.
• Travel to conferences, workshops, and research institutions to identify emerging trends and promote the journal.
• Collaborate with Cell Press editorial teams to align scope, transfer suitable manuscripts, and strengthen the energy research portfolio.
• Contribute to broader editorial and strategic projects across the publishing group.

Required profile

• PhD in a discipline relevant to energy research with substantial expertise in photovoltaics.
• Strong understanding of the photovoltaics landscape, from materials and device physics to emerging solar cell technologies and scale‑up.
• Prior editorial experience preferred; exceptional early‑career researchers with a solid publication record are also considered.
• Ability to think conceptually, identify emerging scientific directions, and make well‑reasoned editorial decisions.
