Associate Scientific Editor, Joule (Photovoltaics)

About the role

We are looking for an Associate Scientific Editor with expertise in photovoltaics to join the editorial team of Joule, a leading journal in energy research. Working closely with the Editor-in-Chief, you will help shape the journal’s coverage of solar-energy science and technology, assess submissions, and identify emerging research trends.

Key responsibilities

• Manage manuscripts through the editorial and peer-review process, evaluating scientific quality, originality and broader significance.
• Attract high-impact research articles and commission reviews, perspectives, commentaries and other editorial content from leading experts.
• Travel to international conferences, workshops and research institutions to engage with scientists, spot emerging directions and promote the journal.
• Collaborate with editorial teams across Cell Press to align scope, recommend manuscript transfers and strengthen the energy portfolio.
• Contribute to broader editorial and strategic projects within Cell Press.

Required profile

• PhD in a discipline relevant to Joule’s scope with significant research experience in photovoltaics.
• Prior editorial experience is preferred; outstanding early-career researchers with a strong publication record are also considered.
• Demonstrated ability to think conceptually about scientific trends and to evaluate research rigorously.
