Principal Professional, Financial Controller

About the role

The Principal Professional, Financial Controller reports to the Chief Financial Controller and is responsible for ensuring the Bank’s financial statements and control activities comply with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and relevant regulations. The role is based at the NDB Headquarters in Shanghai and requires relocation.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with IFRS and applicable laws.
• Adapt accounting standards for loans, grants, borrowings, investments, derivatives, capital, payroll, fixed assets, and administrative accounts.
• Manage financial control activities, including general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and budget monitoring.
• Produce comprehensive balance‑sheet and income‑statement analyses, monitor financial status, identify risks, and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare quarterly and annual financial performance analyses and investor roadshow presentations.
• Support timely closure of internal audit points and contribute to system implementation and bank‑wide automation initiatives.
• Review external data submissions such as those to rating agencies.
• Develop and tailor financial control initiatives aligned with the Bank’s strategic priorities, especially for loan product and treasury accounting.

Required profile

• Proven experience preparing financial statements under IFRS.
• Strong background in financial control, general ledger, and account reconciliation.
• Ability to analyse balance sheets and income statements, identify risks and propose corrective measures.
• Experience supporting internal audit processes and system automation projects.
• Understanding of loan, grant, borrowing, investment, and treasury accounting within a banking environment.
