GL Accountant – General Ledger & Tax Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a GL Accountant to manage general ledger accounting, tax compliance and ERP implementation projects. The role supports monthly financial analysis, cash‑flow forecasting, rolling forecasts and budget preparation while driving expense control.

Key responsibilities

• Record daily and monthly general ledger entries, including accrued expenses, payables, prepaid expenses, payroll accruals and tax liabilities.
• Prepare and maintain the chart of accounts, mapping files and ensure standardisation.
• Execute monthly, quarterly and yearly closing processes and produce financial statements and reporting packages under PRC GAAP and Germany GAAP.
• Prepare statutory statistical reports and ensure compliance with German group reporting requirements.
• Maintain balance‑sheet review, monitor aged items, lead AR/AP reconciliation and identify risks and opportunities.
• Calculate and book VAT, surplus tax, corporate income tax and other taxes on a periodic basis, staying up‑to‑date with regulatory changes.
• Manage capex, inventory booking, cost of sales and lead stock‑take activities, following up on aged inventory over three months.
• Support internal and external audits and contribute to expense‑saving initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting.
• Minimum five years of experience in general‑ledger accounting, preferably within a WFOE environment.
• Familiarity with PRC GAAP, IFRS, German GAAP and Chinese tax regulations.
• CPA qualification preferred.
• Strong English communication skills and ability to work under pressure.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with ERP implementation and financial reporting systems.
• Knowledge of PRC GAAP, IFRS and Germany GAAP reporting standards.
• Tax calculation and compliance expertise.
