Visual Art Teacher (Grades 1-4)

About the role

The Visual Art Teacher will join a small team of two art educators to deliver the visual arts curriculum for Grade 1 through Grade 4 students at Concordia International School Shanghai. The role focuses on planning engaging lessons, managing a diverse classroom, and contributing to the school’s Christian‑based learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement developmentally appropriate visual‑arts units using Understanding by Design (UbD) strategies.
• Assess student progress with a variety of formative and summative tools and differentiate instruction to meet individual needs.
• Maintain effective classroom management and uphold the school’s Christian values.
• Collaborate with the other art teacher to align curriculum across grades.
• Oversee Teacher Assistants or support staff as needed.
• Participate in school duties from 7:45 AM to 3:45 PM, including meetings and extracurricular activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject area (required); advanced degree or specialized training is a plus.
• Minimum two years of successful teaching experience in a school setting.
• Experience in an international school and familiarity with the American educational system is desired.
• Ability to work effectively with an ethnically diverse student population.
• Commitment to modeling Christian faith and engaging respectfully with other faith traditions.
