Technical Assistant (VSM)

About the role

The Technical Assistant (VSM) supports the Technical Superintendent in overseeing the day‑to‑day technical operations of assigned vessels. The role involves record‑keeping, monitoring performance, and handling communications related to surveys, repairs, and supplies.

Key responsibilities

• Assist Technical Superintendents in monitoring daily technical operations of assigned vessels.
• Maintain statutory, class, and technical records for all vessels in the fleet.
• Update survey status, code reports for filing, and keep fuel analysis reports.
• Track new regulations from authorities and disseminate them to superintendents.
• Prepare monthly accrual estimates and keep related documentation.
• Manage vessel requisitions, obtain vendor quotations, compare cost and quality, secure approvals, and arrange services, spares, and stores.
• Handle correspondence with vessels and external parties regarding spares, repairs, surveys, and registrations when the superintendent is unavailable.
• Assist in preparing vessel inspection reports, monthly and yearly fleet reports.
• Perform ad‑hoc tasks assigned by Superintendents, Fleet Manager or Fleet Director.

Required profile

• College degree or higher, preferably a bachelor’s in a ship‑related discipline.
• Experience as a Technical Assistant in a ship‑management company is desired, but fresh graduates are also welcome.
• Strong analytical ability, service orientation, meticulous attention to detail, and the capacity to work under pressure.
• Immediate availability is highly preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to process Chinese text using computer applications.
