Software Development Engineer, Japan Store Tech

About the role

Amazon is seeking a Software Development Engineer to join the Japan Store Tech team. You will work on innovative, large‑scale services that impact millions of customers and sellers worldwide, building new features and solving complex technical challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Translate business and functional requirements into concrete deliverables and prototypes.
• Design, develop, and deploy highly scalable and reliable distributed services.
• Collaborate with multiple technical teams across different locations.
• Invent new features and improve existing systems while managing ambiguity.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and operational support.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional software development experience (non‑internship).
• 2+ years of experience designing or architecting new or existing systems.
• Experience with the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.

Required skills

• Proficiency in at least one programming language.
• Knowledge of design patterns, scalability, and reliability engineering.
• Experience with source control systems (e.g., Git).
• Familiarity with build and deployment pipelines.
• Testing and operational best practices.
