Software Algorithm Engineer

About the role

KLA, a global leader in electronics for the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem, is hiring a Software Algorithm Engineer in Shanghai. The role centres on developing and improving algorithms for defect inspection and critical dimension metrology, using C++ on Linux, and working with global teams.

Key responsibilities

• Research, develop and improve algorithms in image/signal processing, geometry pattern handling, high-performance computing and machine learning for defect inspection and critical dimension metrology, including defining problems, reviewing academic papers, prototyping and evaluating performance
• Develop software in C++ on Linux, including design, implementation, integration with product software and unit testing
• Analyse big data, design software architecture and perform data mining
• Work with global teams to identify, analyse and solve problems and validate solutions
• Follow KLA's software development process and write design and development documents in English
• Travel globally (e.g. US, Korea, Taiwan) for short-term customer support and training

Required profile

• Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or a related field, or a bachelor's degree with 5 years of related experience
• Fluent English and excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to travel globally
• Knowledge of optics and semiconductor processes is a plus

• Solid background in image processing, signal processing, computer vision, pattern recognition, computational geometry, data analysis, high-performance computing or machine learning
• C/C++ and Python programming
• Algorithm design, software development and debugging
