Senior Wi‑Fi Driver/Firmware Engineer

About the role

Sonos is looking for a senior engineer to lead the development of Wi‑Fi drivers and firmware for its next‑generation connected speakers. You will work at the intersection of embedded software, wireless networking and audio streaming, collaborating with hardware, acoustics and platform teams.

Key responsibilities

• Bring up new prototypes and future Sonos products on the latest wireless networking hardware using C and Linux kernel‑mode development.
• Improve performance and scalability of the Sonos wireless network by applying knowledge of IEEE 802.11, Bluetooth, Ethernet and routing algorithms.
• Collaborate with embedded software teams to ensure audio streaming applications efficiently use the underlying Wi‑Fi stack.
• Work closely with hardware and platform teams to optimise overall system performance and maintain Sonos’s market‑leading audio hardware.

Required profile

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related discipline.
• 7+ years of experience developing, optimising and maintaining embedded systems.
• Proven experience in Linux kernel development and debugging.
• Track record of shipping reliable, extensible and maintainable software.
