Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack)

About the role

Flexport is building the operating system for global trade. As a Senior Full‑Stack Software Engineer you will design, develop and maintain critical freight‑forwarding systems that power our worldwide logistics platform.

Key responsibilities

• Build highly available, secure, distributed systems in a microservice architecture.
• Design, develop, test and maintain logistics‑related entities such as shippers, cargo, carriers and containers.
• Collaborate with engineers and cross‑functional teams to solve complex business and technical problems.
• Architect and drive major multi‑month projects, coordinating multiple stakeholders.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead delivery of high‑quality results.
• Build and launch products rapidly and incrementally, shipping to production dozens of times per day.
• Ensure high quality by monitoring metrics and applying post‑mortem learnings.
• Untangle legacy code and rebuild services with composability in mind.

Required profile

• 5+ years of software development experience.
• 3+ years of design and architecture experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience with microservice architecture and cloud deployments.
• Understanding of performance trade‑offs, load balancing and operational issues.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, Ruby, Python or C++.
• Experience building large‑scale, high‑performance distributed systems.
• Knowledge of object‑oriented analysis and design patterns.
