Senior Optical Module Engineer

About the role

Applied Materials seeks a Senior Optical Module Engineer to lead end‑to‑end development, qualification, and productionization of advanced optical modules in Shanghai.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive new optical and imaging module architectures using geometrical and wave optics tools.
• Lead module integration, calibration, and qualification both on‑tool and off‑tool, ensuring performance meets specifications.
• Develop novel characterization techniques, perform statistical analysis, and maintain quality and repeatability of optical components.
• Collaborate with manufacturing suppliers, support prototype ramp‑up to high‑volume production, and generate engineering documentation.
• Provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and influence cross‑functional decisions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Optical Sciences, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science or related field.
• 10+ years of industry experience in optical modules or systems.
• Proven ability to independently solve complex, system‑level problems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
