Senior Medical Science Liaison - Changsha

About the role

Biogen is hiring a Senior Medical Science Liaison in Changsha to act as a scientific expert for its field medical force. The role works closely with healthcare professionals externally and with cross-functional departments internally, and offers the chance to work with the National strategic team on the SMA and ALS product strategy. It is a field-based position.

Key responsibilities

• Build, develop and maintain medical scientific relationships with experts in spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), ALS and other NMD products in development.
• Facilitate medical and scientific information exchange with the medical community on SMA, ALS and other NMD products.
• Generate systematic medical insights and share key learnings regularly with the regional Medical team.
• Provide inputs to the China National Brand strategy from a regional perspective and contribute to the implementation of the SMA/ALS product China development plan.
• Support experts in developing clinical therapeutic concepts and help implement the internal training plan, updating knowledge of the disease area.
• Deliver clinical and scientific presentations to regional audiences and organize local/regional educational meetings with key stakeholders.
• Support experts in developing concepts and protocols for SRAs, IITs and registries that support orphan drug therapies.
• Work with local patient organizations to educate about the disease area and advances in patient care.
• Summarize national congresses in reports and slide decks, use the Veeva CRM system to report to the organization, and support field commercial and corporate account efforts.
• Screen potential investigators for Biogen-initiated clinical trials and collaborate with clinical trial groups to assess center capacity.

Required profile

• A medical degree (e.g., MD) or a natural science degree.
• At least 3 years of MSL experience.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, both scientific and non-scientific.
• Team player who fits an international, diverse teamwork culture; strong customer orientation and science-based approach.
• Resilience in the face of difficulties and willingness to travel, as it is a field-based role.
