Senior Data Engineer – Content Management Systems (China)

About the role

Design, deliver and operate large‑scale data platforms that support China‑local content management and processing for a global research and analytics leader. You will work closely with code, data pipelines and production systems to solve challenges around scale, data quality, operability and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, test and maintain production‑grade backend services and data pipelines in a cloud environment.
• Write clean, maintainable code for high‑volume scholarly content ingestion, processing and delivery.
• Debug and resolve complex issues related to data correctness, performance bottlenecks and operational failures.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to shared libraries and internal tooling.
• Build pipelines that handle XML and other semi‑structured formats, including metadata extraction, transformation, validation, deduplication and enrichment.
• Implement ETL/ELT processes for structured and unstructured data and integrate internal systems with third‑party platforms via APIs.
• Apply automated data‑quality checks, testing and observability to ensure consistency and performance.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing, delivering and operating large‑scale data platforms.
• Strong background working in cloud environments and building production‑grade data pipelines.
• Ability to ensure high standards of data quality, performance and governance.
• Experience collaborating with product architects, engineering teams and business stakeholders.
