Senior Back‑End Engineer (AI/LLM)

About the role

Veeva Systems is seeking a Senior Back‑End Engineer to join its Beijing team, focusing on the development of China CRM SaaS cloud products. The role combines platform architecture, AI agent integration, and large‑scale system design to accelerate life‑science customers’ digital transformation.

Key responsibilities

• Design, improve and implement SaaS platform architecture, selecting appropriate technologies.
• Analyze business requirements and deliver implementation solutions in collaboration with front‑end engineers, product managers and QA.
• Enhance user experience and drive business growth through technology.
• Design and deploy LLM‑based AI agents, building core capabilities such as function calling, memory, planning, multi‑agent collaboration, and RAG pipelines.
• Research cutting‑edge technologies (LLMs, AI agents) and apply them to product development.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years of software development experience, including SaaS platform design.
• Proven experience designing large‑scale distributed systems.
• Hands‑on experience with AI agents or LLM applications.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, relational databases and object‑oriented design.

Required skills

• Python (primary development language).
• Java or C++.
• Web frameworks: Django, Flask, Spring.
• AI/LLM frameworks: LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, AutoGen.
• RAG, prompt engineering, function calling, vector databases.
• Design of large‑scale distributed systems.
