Regional Product Manager – China

About the role

The Regional Product Manager – China will drive the product portfolio for BASF’s Coatings business in the Chinese automotive market. The role focuses on delivering margin targets, fostering growth, and ensuring competitive advantage through localisation and cost‑saving initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead strategic marketing projects, conduct market analysis and launch tailored product offerings for the Chinese automotive sector.
• Define and implement regional pricing policies, propose pricing actions and monitor adherence to KAM Business Rules for margin management.
• Develop and execute regional strategies for different coating layers, set milestones and coordinate implementation across countries.
• Support strategic RFQs and business growth initiatives, collaborating with Customisation Lab, Global/Regional Product Management, Technical Project Management, Supply Chain and Key Account Managers.
• Evaluate and implement localisation of raw materials and intermediates to generate cost savings and secure sustainable supply.
• Define organic measures for complexity reduction and profitability improvement, such as local sourcing, toll manufacturing and technology consolidation.
• Work with labs and key accounts to introduce new technologies such as Golden Gate or Low Bake.

Required profile

• Degree in Business Management, preferably postgraduate in Chemicals or a related field.
• Minimum five years of experience in the automotive or chemicals sector, with leadership experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of financial KPIs and ability to analyse profit and loss statements.
