Purchasing Specialist

About the role

Evonik is seeking a Purchasing Specialist to support operational procurement, regional tender activities, and market intelligence across its global chemical business. The role involves creating purchase orders, managing RFQs, and ensuring smooth communication throughout the tender process.

Key responsibilities

• Create purchase orders, contracts and follow‑up on invoice payments and overdue status.
• Manage Request for Quotation (RfQ) processes for selected categories and demands.
• Handle and coordinate complaints, maintain data and documentation in SAP and Ariba.
• Support category‑specific procurement requirements such as licenses and certificates.
• Participate in projects to create or optimise procurement processes and drive efficiency.
• Prepare service descriptions, file tender results and archive supporting documents.
• Ensure timely internal and external communication on tender execution, price analysis and contract validation.
• Collect and analyse market price data, share insights with internal stakeholders, and coordinate contract‑based, spot and urgent orders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably with experience in customer service or supply chain within the chemical or manufacturing industry.
• Knowledge of SAP Materials Management and Transportation modules is preferred.
• High‑volume processing capability with strong attention to detail.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
• Proven teamwork, problem‑solving abilities and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Competency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Power BI.
• Fluency in English.
