Product Development Engineer – Drinkware

About the role

BDA is seeking an experienced Product Development Engineer specialized in drinkware to lead technical development and manufacturing execution of innovative, high‑quality products. The role works closely with product management, design, global sourcing and manufacturing partners to bring new drinkware concepts from concept to production.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical development of insulated bottles, tumblers, mugs, lids and accessories, translating concepts into engineering specifications, drawings and prototypes.
• Partner with manufacturing facilities across China and other Asian markets to evaluate tooling, production readiness and provide engineering support through sampling, pilot runs and mass production.
• Establish technical specifications, coordinate durability and performance testing, and ensure compliance with food‑contact and safety regulations.
• Identify and implement improvements in manufacturing efficiency, material utilization and cost reduction.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Product or Manufacturing Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 5–10 years of product engineering or development experience, preferably focused on drinkware, hydration products or similar consumer goods.
• Proven experience working directly with manufacturers and suppliers in China.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, negotiation and project‑management abilities.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with stainless steel, plastic injection molding and ceramic manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency in CAD software and creation of technical drawings and specifications.
• Experience in prototyping, product testing, manufacturing validation and production troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of drinkware construction, tooling, surface finishes and performance requirements.
