Product & Application Engineer – Marine Solutions

About the role

As a Product & Application Engineer in Global Sales Engineering, you will bridge engineering, sales and product development to deliver technically viable marine solutions. You will translate customer needs into the right Alfa Laval products while balancing performance, cost and technical constraints.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical evaluation of customer requirements and match them with Alfa Laval marine portfolio (e.g., boilers, thermal fluid systems, fresh water generators, heat exchangers, organic Rankine cycle, Sox scrubbers).
• Drive complex quotation processes, including calculations, specifications and solution design.
• Participate in customer meetings, presentations and on‑site technical discussions.
• Collaborate with Sales, R&D, Product Management and Engineering & Supply to define feasible, competitive solutions.
• Act as product champion, maintaining deep knowledge of capabilities, limitations and applications.
• Support product launches, internal training and technical enablement.

Required profile

• Structured, commercially aware engineer comfortable working beyond a purely technical environment.
• Clear communicator who can challenge assumptions and engage confidently with customers and internal stakeholders.
• Detail‑oriented with a pragmatic mindset, able to push back when needed.
• Enjoys balancing technical depth with collaboration, ownership and influence.

Required skills

• Solid foundation in marine or mechanical engineering (Bachelor’s degree).
• 2–5 years experience in the marine industry, understanding vessel engine‑room systems.
• Experience designing or applying technical solutions for marine equipment.
• Ability to create simplified CAD drawings and P&ID corrections.
• Familiarity with boilers, thermal fluid systems, fresh water generators, heat exchangers, organic Rankine cycle and Sox scrubbers.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
