Process Support Engineer – Inline 3D X-ray

About the role

As a Process Support Engineer you will guide the inline 3D X-ray inspection tool through its full lifecycle, from concept to qualification, providing on-site customer support at semiconductor fabs. You will work closely with customers, R&D and X-ray scientists to develop and optimise advanced packaging inspection processes.

Key responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites to install, diagnose, and repair the inline 3D X-ray inspection system.
• Design and execute hypothesis experiments and Design of Experiments (DOE), analyse data statistically and produce technical reports.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software and system issues, perform root-cause analysis and resolve complex process engineering problems.
• Develop and optimise process parameters for advanced packaging inspection and negotiate tool sign-off with customers.
• Support hardware qualification, tool bring-up, and develop new inspection workflows.
• Collaborate with remote engineering and service teams, providing field feedback for product improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, physics, materials engineering, electrical engineering, optoelectronics or a related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in a semiconductor fab or equipment environment.
• Fluent English communication skills; Mandarin proficiency is a plus.
• Master’s degree or PhD is preferred.

Required skills

• Strong analytical and statistical data-analysis skills.
• Proficiency in Python for scientific data acquisition and instrument control.
• Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Familiarity with EPICS or similar distributed control systems.
• Knowledge of semiconductor process tools (CVD, ALD, PVD, etch, anneal, implant).
• Experience with data-analysis software such as JMP, SPC, MATLAB or Mathematica and DOE methodology.
