About the role

The Audit Assistant Manager will join KPMG China’s Corporate Audit Department in Shanghai, supporting a diverse portfolio of clients. The role involves executing audit procedures, analysing financial statements and liaising with clients to ensure high‑quality audit outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain regular communication with senior team members and clients regarding audit issues and engagement progress.
• Execute audit procedures for income‑statement and balance‑sheet items, including reconciliations and substantive testing.
• Perform bank reconciliations, physical verification of assets, and review of employee and supplier records.
• Collaborate with audit teams across multiple industries and travel to client premises as required.
• Prepare and assist in the delivery of financial audit reports.
• Provide advisory support to clients on complex business and accounting matters.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of experience in a large public accounting firm.
• Fluent written and spoken English and Mandarin Chinese.
• Strong analytical mindset with a commitment to delivering quality client service.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Business‑oriented thinking to identify audit issues arising from commercial activities.
• Mature, proactive, and able to work effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
