MS/HS Strings Teacher

About the role

Concordia International School Shanghai seeks a dedicated MS/HS Strings Teacher to lead and expand its orchestral program for grades 5‑12. The successful candidate will join a small music team, collaborate with fellow educators, and contribute to a vibrant, faith‑based learning community.

Key responsibilities

• Teach Andante Strings (beginner, grades 5‑6), Intermezzo (intermediate, grades 6‑8), Sinfonia (advanced, grades 7‑8), Concert Strings and Chamber Strings.
• Prepare and direct the annual APAC Orchestra Festival, high‑school musical, AMIS auditions, and potential before‑school co‑curricular ensembles.
• Develop and deliver curriculum that aligns with Concordia student learning results and grade‑level expectations.
• Collaborate with the elementary music teacher, middle‑school/high‑school instructors, and accompanist to ensure program continuity.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject area and appropriate teaching certification.
• Minimum two years of successful teaching experience in a school setting.
• Experience or familiarity with international schools and the American educational system is desired.
• Ability to work with an ethnically diverse student body and create units using Understanding by Design (UbD) strategies.
• Commitment to modeling Christian faith and engaging in spiritual discussions.
