Mobile Developer – React Native & Geospatial Apps

About the role

The United Nations Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT) is seeking a Mobile Developer to design, build and support innovative mobile applications with geospatial and AI components. This consultant position is based onsite in Deqing, China and contributes to the UN's digital transformation agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, test, debug and deploy mobile applications using React/React Native or Ionic & Capacitor, following UN standards.
• Create technical and user documentation, training materials, and deliver presentations to stakeholders.
• Provide third‑level support, version management and troubleshooting for released apps.
• Monitor emerging technologies, benchmark tools and propose new libraries to improve solutions.
• Collaborate with the team leader and other developers to ensure high‑quality deliverables.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field, or a first‑level degree with at least two years of relevant experience.
• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience building mobile apps with React/React Native or Ionic & Capacitor.
• At least 3 years of experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and 2 years with API/JSON integration.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently under supervision.
