Mechanical Engineering Lead

About the role

Formlabs is looking for a Mechanical Engineering Lead to drive the design, testing, and production of innovative mechanical structures for its 3D printing platforms. You will lead prototype development, system analysis, and manufacturing process optimization to bring concepts from the lab to mass production.

Key responsibilities

• Prototype design and testing of new mechanical structures, including material property evaluation.
• Analyze, test, validate, and iterate electromechanical systems for smooth transition from prototype to mass production.
• Apply knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining fixtures, injection molding, and die casting to design cost‑effective parts.
• Employ critical thinking to solve complex engineering challenges and define actionable solutions.
• Take proactive initiative, stay updated on industry trends, and drive continuous learning.

Required profile

• Experience in managing engineering teams.
• Proficiency in CAD software and online design tools like Onshape or SolidWorks PDM.
• Ability to create 3D models driven by master sketch parameters that update automatically.
• Expertise in producing engineering drawings compliant with GD&T standards.
• Strong capability in detailed process assembly drawings.
• Fluent spoken English.
