Manager III, Customer Engineer – ETCH/CMP

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Manager III, Customer Engineer for the ETCH/CMP product lines in Chengdu. The role leads a district of customer engineers, builds strong client relationships, and ensures successful system installations and support.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain customer relationships across all levels in the district, including regular visits.
• Manage, coach, and direct customer engineers, handling salary and career planning, performance appraisals, and corrective actions.
• Serve as the primary interface with Product Divisions for technical support, training, spares, and reliability.
• Oversee account planning with District Sales Engineer, financial forecasting, cost efficiency, and system installation execution.
• Manage RMA procedures, track engineer hours, and ensure accuracy and effectiveness of the team.

Required profile

• Proven ability to develop and sustain customer relationships at all organizational levels.
• Experience leading and mentoring engineering teams, including performance management and career development.
• Strong analytical judgment to recommend policy changes and solve complex operational issues.

Required skills

• System installation planning and execution.
• RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) process management.
• Customer Engineer hours tracking and performance measurement.
